What Do We Consider When Approaching Fertility?
Hormone Imbalances: PCOS, Estrogen Dominance, Progesterone Deficiency, Adrenal Fatigue, Hyper/Hypothyroid. One main area that needs support is hormone balance: this helps to optimizing and supporting ovulation, proper development of the uterine lining to allow for implantation, supporting hormones that help reduce risk of miscarriage, and are essential for proper develop of the growing baby. Hormones are affected by so many things, such as stress, digestive health, chronic inflammation, that often the first steps in supporting fertility is seeing what systems or areas need support, and addressing those. Depending on what a couple may need, we will work to heal and optimize the whole body and person, and then using nutrition, self care practices, botanical medicine and supplements, restore balance and optimal hormone levels.
Environmental Considerations: Toxic Burden and Exposure. The sheer number of chemicals we are exposed to on a daily basis that directly affect fertility and can negatively impact the development and health of our future children is unfortunate and significant. Luckily we have ways to reduce exposure and body burden prior to pregnancy to reduce the risks to Mother and Baby. Through various methods of thorough history, appropriate lab testing and education around sources of these toxins, we can address and optimize this area, removing an obstacle to healthy fertility, pregnancy and baby.
Stress and Mental/Emotional Considerations: The process of becoming parents can bring with it a lot of emotional processes, particularly if we have struggled to conceive or have experience pregnancy loss, or previous birth trauma. Sometimes we have blocks depending on our relationship with our own parents, or have doubts or fears around becoming parents ourselves. So part of the Fertility and Preconception process will be diving into and unwinding these fears, to align Mind Body and Heart and allow for manifestation of the desired state of having children.
What to Expect:
In general, there are three phases within the Fertility Empowerment Process. The first involves thorough holistic health history. Through this in depth assessment, we will identify areas that will need to be addressed. Sometimes we will do Stool Testing, Environmental Toxin Testing, etc to assess Digestive and Detoxification Health. This phase almost always often an individualized cleansing process to support supporting drainage pathways, ensuring our organs of elimination and detoxification are working properly. This is also where we work to identify and heal emotional blocks through mindbody/energy work and healing rituals. The Second Phase is where we begin to directly address hormones, using personalized Biphasic Herbal Formulas and appropriate supplementation, nutrition and self care practices, work to balance hormones and optimize the egg quality, womb health and prepare for conception. The third phase is essentially where we try for pregnancy, we continue appropriate support and focus on nourishing the body and womb. Dr. Renfer also supports women throughout their pregnancy and postpartum, throughout their breastfeeding journey including restoring hormone balance after weaning.
Dr. Renfer also creates custom herbal products and packages to support her fertility patients, such as Womb Oils, Nutritive Teas, Postpartum Care, etc.
